Perliter Walters-Gilliam

As an international higher education accreditation and quality assurance expert, Perliter Walters-Gilliam has almost 20 years of experience developing accreditation standards, evaluating institutional compliance, and monitoring accreditation regulation. She previously served as the Vice President of Accreditation at an institutional accrediting body and has conducted over 300 institutional reviews of various types of colleges, private universities, and independent institutions within the US as well as evaluations and consultations in over 10 countries in Europe, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean. She served as the Quality Assurance Expert representing the Commonwealth of Dominica at UNESCO’s 3rd World Higher Education Conference in Barcelona, Spain; and facilitated sessions at international conferences in Mexico, Kazakhstan, and Trinidad and Tobago.

Her boutique consulting firm, NBBE Consulting, boasts a portfolio that includes specialized and institutional accrediting agencies seeking US Department of Education recognition, certification bodies seeking accreditation, quality assurance agencies within governments, and institutions with a variety of quality assurance and organizational needs. She also provides executive coaching to Higher Education leaders and facilitates training on capacity building, leadership, and team development. 

She holds an MBA from the Robert Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, College Park and double undergraduate degrees in International Business and Spanish from Plattsburgh State University. She also holds a Certificate in Global Education Entrepreneurship and Innovation from the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education. She is a graduate of the Goldman Sachs Black in Business Program, Cohort 6. She serves on the Leadership Southern Maryland Board of Directors and is a Court Appointed Special Advocate for Charles County.
